PHILADELPHIA, June 16 – State Rep. Babette Josephs, D-Phila., will participate in the kick-off of an ink-jet, toner cartridge recycling program on Saturday, June 21.
The Community Outreach Partnership's new recycling program officially will begin from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 21 at 22nd and Spruce streets.
Local residents and businesses are invited to bring their used ink-jet and laser toner cartridges for recycling. CORP will use the income generated by this recycling effort to support the emergency homeless shelter, which it has run during the winter months for more than 20 years with strong neighborhood support and its elder-visitation program, Communicare.
At 11 a.m., Josephs will present a citation from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives acknowledging the strong neighborhood recycling effort in the neighborhood for the last 15 years as well as CORP's neighborhood financial support for its homeless shelter and elder-visitation programs.
The Community Outreach Partnership has developed this new recycling initiative working with Recycling COPS, a recently formed organization that aims to deliver community outreach program support to strengthen recycling efforts. PrintAgain Ink of the Delaware Valley, Sicklerville, N.J., will be providing the pick-up and payment for the cartridges collected by the Community Outreach Partnership.
Ink cartridge recycling will be available once a month; residents can drop off their ink cartridges for recycling between 9 a.m. and noon on the third Saturday of each month. The group also plans to put drop boxes in the neighborhood, but has not yet identified specific locations.
Local companies are also invited to participate in this recycling effort by requesting on-site recycling bins for their offices, which would be emptied on a periodic basis by PrintAgain Ink.
For more information, please contact CORP at 215-732-2515 or Josephs' office at 215-893-1515.
