Josephs to honor Center City Residents' Association Thursday

PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 6 – As the Center City Residents' Association marks its 60th anniversary on Thursday, state Rep. Babette Josephs will honor the group for another achievement.

Josephs will attend the association's 60th anniversary event Thursday, Feb. 7 and around 6:30 p.m. present the residents' association with a legislative citation, recognizing the group for its Planning Excellence Award for Best Practices for a Plan from the Pennsylvania Planning Association.

"In any city, neighborhood planning can be a challenge. One has to consider the existing urban fabric when planning for development and construction," Josephs said. "The Center City Residents' Association held many public meetings to gather input from area residents to develop a thorough and comprehensive plan. What resulted was the creation of a neighborhood plan that takes everything into consideration in order to maintain and improve the quality of life in the area, something the association has strived for in the last 60 years.

"The association's history is a laudable one, making inestimable contributions to the welfare of society through its many programs, and is richly deserving of recognition," Josephs said.

The Pennsylvania Planning Association works to promote good planning practices at all levels of the Commonwealth through workshops, legislative monitoring and public awareness efforts.
