Josephs: Free mobile mammography van to visit 182nd District

PHILADELPHIA, March 26 – State Rep. Babette Josephs, D-Phila., is pleased to announce the Fox Chase Mobile Mammography Van will be at the Fairmount Primary Care Center, 1412 Fairmount Ave., on Wednesday, May 9 from 9 a.m. to 4:40 p.m.

Free breast-cancer screenings will be available for women who meet the following criteria:

provide the name and address of at least one physician who will receive the screening results;
fill out a health history questionnaire;
provide a prescription from a doctor;
must not have breast-fed within the past nine months;
must not have breast implants;
must not have had a breast-cancer diagnosis within the past two years or a new breast problem;
must not have had a mammogram within the past 12 months;
must provide insurance card and Social Security number at screening.

Uninsured women will not be turned away -- applications will be provided for coverage under the Pennsylvania State Healthy Women's Program.

Josephs hopes this free program will not only save lives but also emphasize the importance of getting a regular mammography.
